Moga is a newly formed district of Punjab with a prominent historical background. The district itself is the proud land of Lala Lajpat Rai’s birth. Dhudhike Falls the native village of Lalaji is a part of Moga district. It was a sub division of Faridkot for a long time. However Moga gained the recognition of being the 17th district in the the land of fearless Sikhs and farming that is Punjab, on 24th November 1995 when it was outlined on the map of Punjab state. 

Moga, a comparatively new and small town, is located on the National Highway 95 or popularly known as the Ferozpur - Ludhiana Road. Comprising of an area of 2209 sq km, Moga is surrounded by Sangrur district in the South, Jalandhar in north, Ferozpur and Faridkot in west and Ludhiana in the east.

While the primary profession here is agriculture, it has also become an essential part of the industrial belt in Punjab with industries like Nestle, Adani Agri Logistics Ltd. The district also has religious as well as architectural relevance for tourists and pilgrims.

Religious Spots in Moga

Moga is a place where spiritualism has found true ground. Among the many Gurudwaras, the most prominent ones with historical background are Dina Sahib, Lopon, Takhtupura and Daroli Bhai and Chand Nawan.

Dina Sahib located in the village Dina, is also known as Gurudwara Lohgarh Sahib. Build in the memory of Guru Govind Singh; it is believed that he visited the holy place during his journey to Muktsar. The place is considered to be holy shrine since Guruji discarded his sacred attire Uch Ka Pir here. Prakash Divas and other religious days are celebrated here in this place from where the Guruji is believed to have the famous Zafarnama or letter to Emperor Aurangzab.

The Gurudwara of Lopon on the southern outskirts of the small village, 25 km Southeast of Moga is constructed in the memory of Guru Hargobindji who is said to have visited the place. Devotees assemble in this holy place on the last day of the dark half of the month to pay homage and dip in the sacred sarovar by the Gurudwara.

Takhtupura is a spiritual shrine, located 5 km east from Nihalsinghvala in Moga is known for three separate shrines dedicated to Guru Nanak, Guru Gobind Singh and Guru Hargobind. They are collectively known as Nanaksar., named after the Nanaksar sacred sarovar. Apart from the prominent Sikh events, festivals like Lohri and Maghi are also celebrated with much grandeur.

The Geeta Bhawan Temple is yet another attraction located in the southern part of Moga City. It is located in close vicinity to the famous Kashmiri Park. The institution is maintained and run by Swami Vaidatanand Ji primarily. The exceptional Mirror Mosaic work is the true attraction of this spot.

Another attraction of the city is the Nestle Moga Dairy Plant which a renowned and prestigious Food Processing Plant. To be more specific it is a premium class hi tech milk plant in India. A visit to this factory located on the western side of Moga town is worth a visit while in Moga.
